US-Based Entrepreneur Urges Nigerians Abroad to Return Home Despite Insecurity
Princess Adenubi Olagbegi-Apampa, a US-based entrepreneur and cleric, has called on Nigerians in the Diaspora to reconsider relocating back home, emphasizing that insecurity is a global issue—not exclusive to Nigeria.
Nigeria Needs Its Citizens Abroad
Speaking at the dedication of the multi-million naira Princess Nubi Plaza Seliat Hall in Ibadan, Oyo State, Olagbegi-Apampa urged Nigerians abroad to invest in their homeland, stating that their contributions could help rebuild the nation.
“There will never be a place like home,” she emphasized, adding that despite challenges, Nigerians abroad should return to drive development.
Insecurity Not Limited to Nigeria
The human capital development expert argued that insecurity in Nigeria should not deter citizens from returning, as other nations, including the US, face similar or worse issues.
“We have triple what is happening in Nigeria in the US,” she said. “There are more beggars in the United States than here. Every day, I see 20 or 30 people begging on the streets.”
Corruption Exists Everywhere
Olagbegi-Apampa also addressed corruption, stating that while it is prevalent globally, Nigeria’s transparency in exposing it makes it seem worse.
“The US is among the most corrupt nations, but they don’t do it openly like we do here,” she noted.
Call to Action
She encouraged Nigerians abroad to support one another in returning home, stressing that collective effort is needed to rebuild the nation.
“We need to know that fingers are not equal,” she said, urging Nigerians to contribute in their own capacities.
