Namibian Eco-Building Materials Break into Zimbabwean Market Through New Retail Deal
In a significant move for regional trade, a leading Namibian manufacturer has inked a distribution agreement that will see its innovative building products stocked on shelves across Zimbabwe. This partnership marks a strategic expansion for Namibia’s green manufacturing sector into the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.
A Deal Forged at a Continental Expo
The agreement was finalized between Acacia Composites Manufacturers, a Namibian producer of wood plastic composites (WPC), and Halsted Builders Express, a Zimbabwean retail chain with a network of 13 branches nationwide. The initial connection was made on the sidelines of the WoodEX for Africa industrial exhibition in Johannesburg, a key event for the continent’s timber and building industries.
What began as a casual introduction quickly gained momentum. Stuart Knight, Chief Executive of Halsted, was so intrigued by the potential he undertook a follow-up visit to Acacia Composites’ manufacturing plant in Windhoek. It was there, upon seeing the operation firsthand, that the deal truly came to life.
Quality That Speaks for Itself
“The world-class quality of the local products was immediately apparent,” Knight recounted. The visit cemented his conviction, leading to swift negotiations and a finalized agreement to bring Acacia’s range of WPC decking, cladding, and battens to the Zimbabwean market.
The first shipment, already en route, consists of the company’s high-quality, durable decking. This initial order represents the first concrete step in Acacia Composites’ strategy to expand its footprint beyond Namibia’s borders.
Answering the Call for Sustainable Building
For Halsted Builders Express, the partnership is a direct response to evolving customer demands. “WPC decking is exactly what our customers are asking for,” Knight explained. “They are increasingly seeking materials that are not only durable and maintenance-free but also eco-conscious. Acacia Composites is ahead of the curve in this space, and we’re proud to launch their range in Zimbabwe.”
Eike Bolm, Business Manager for Acacia Composites, echoed the enthusiasm. “This partnership is an exciting step in our SADC growth trajectory,” Bolm stated. “We’re proud to bring Namibian WPC products to Zimbabwe through a trusted and established name like Halsted. It’s a testament to the quality and innovation happening right here in Namibia.”
Engineered for African Conditions
The core strength of Acacia Composites’ products lies in their design. They are specifically engineered to withstand Africa’s harshest climates, from intense sun to heavy rainfall. This resilience, combined with a modern aesthetic and sustainable credentials, offers builders, developers, and homeowners a compelling blend of design and durability, ensuring long-term value and peace of mind.
