Tinubu Administration Attracts $450 Million for Nigeria’s CNG Development

Uyo, Akwa Ibom – The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has revealed that President Bola Tinubu’s administration has secured over $450 million in investments for Nigeria’s Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) value chain development.

Key Investments in Nigeria’s Green Energy Transition

Speaking at the Nigeria Public Relations Week (NPRW 2025) in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Minister Idris highlighted the administration’s achievements through the Presidential CNG Initiative. The event, themed “Harnessing Public Relations for Nigeria’s Economic Renaissance,” was organized by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).

“The Tinubu administration has directly invested and attracted over $450 million into Nigeria’s CNG value chain,” Idris stated. “This investment has spurred private sector participation, increasing CNG conversion centers from just 7 in 2023 to over 150 nationwide today.”

Economic Reforms and Infrastructure Development

The minister outlined several key initiatives driving Nigeria’s economic transformation:

  • Creation of the Ministry of Regional Development and regional commissions
  • Establishment of the Ministry of Livestock Development to unlock agricultural potential
  • Launch of the National Students Loan Fund benefiting 300,000 youths
  • Introduction of CreditCorp for personal and business financing
  • N200 billion economic assistance package for businesses

Record Infrastructure Investments

Idris emphasized the administration’s focus on infrastructure development, particularly road construction:

“Nigeria has become a vast construction site with N2.5 trillion approved for road projects this year alone – the highest in our history,” he said. Major projects include:

  • Lagos-Calabar and Badagry-Sokoto Super Highways
  • Revival of Port Harcourt and Warri Refineries
  • N80 billion allocation for Alau Dam reconstruction in Borno
  • Kano-Kaduna Standard Gauge Railway Line

The minister concluded by noting President Tinubu’s growing reputation as “The Road Master” for his unprecedented infrastructure focus.
