‘The So-Called White Genocide Is a Fallacy’ – Mbalula

ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula has strongly dismissed claims of a “white genocide” in South Africa, calling the notion a baseless fabrication.

International Reactions to Alleged Genocide Claims

Recent weeks have seen increased attention on these claims, with South African-born billionaire Elon Musk commenting on what he describes as media silence about alleged genocide in his home country. In response, Donald Trump signed an executive order freezing assistance to South Africa, citing concerns over the recently passed Expropriation Bill.

Mbalula addressed these concerns in a recent social media post, emphasizing that relations between South Africa and the U.S. should not be damaged by what he called lies and falsehoods.

Mbalula’s Strong Rejection of Genocide Claims

“We don’t know what Trump’s administration wants from South Africans except what we know in the public domain as the madness of AfriForum,” Mbalula stated. “Which you as South Africans know is a lie [genocide claims]; it’s an unfounded fabrication and that’s all we know.”

The ANC leader criticized what he described as neocolonial behavior, saying: “If Donald Trump, as the president of America, and his administration can sit with South Africa to understand where this act comes from and open diplomatic channels, he will understand. But for them to act as policemen over us is nothing else but neocolonialism.”

Defending South Africa’s Sovereignty

Mbalula emphasized South Africa’s commitment to protecting the freedoms gained through struggle: “South Africans can attest, the notion of so-called genocide is a fallacy that we dismiss with the contempt it deserves.”
