ANC’s Fikile Mbalula Slams DA as Arrogant Over Budget Dispute

ANC’s Mbalula Slams DA as ‘Arrogant’ Over National Budget Dispute

African National Congress (ANC) Secretary General Fikile Mbalula has strongly criticized the Democratic Alliance (DA) for opposing the 2025 National Budget approval, escalating tensions within South Africa’s Government of National Unity (GNU).

Budget Approval Sparks Political Tensions

The ANC-led government successfully passed the 2025 National Budget earlier this week despite the DA’s refusal to support it. This political standoff has raised questions about the DA’s continued participation in the GNU coalition.

Mbalula didn’t mince words when describing the opposition party’s stance: “The arrogance of the DA needs to be taken on. They are arrogant, and that’s all I can say. They are arrogant and have no respect,” the ANC leader stated during a Friday press briefing, as reported by IOL.

DA Faces Crucial GNU Decision

The DA has yet to announce whether it will remain part of the GNU following the budget dispute. Mbalula emphasized that the decision rests entirely with the opposition party.

“The ball is in the DA’s court,” Mbalula declared. “They’ve chosen their path, and they must analyze and decide on the implications. If you say you don’t want a budget at all costs, you walk, and nobody said you must walk. It cannot be our burden. They’ve decided.”

Public Opinion Sought on GNU Future

The political showdown has sparked national debate about the DA’s role in the unity government. Readers are invited to share their views on whether the DA should remain in the GNU or withdraw.
