Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has made shocking allegations that President William Ruto is not fully in charge of his administration, claiming that two aides – Farouk Kibet and Dennis Itumbi – are the real power brokers in government.

Explosive Interview Revelations

During a televised interview on April 7, 2025, Gachagua dismissed accusations of engaging in petty squabbles, asserting he was actually challenging powerful figures:

“Farouk Kibet is the co-president. He runs the country. Everyone reports to him.”

The impeached DP detailed how Kibet allegedly controlled access to Ruto and managed ministerial appointments, even claiming the aide demanded bribes for meetings:

“I told him not to bring corruption into my office. If he wanted to do that, he should go to the president’s office.”

Itumbi’s Influence on Government Communications

Gachagua also accused Dennis Itumbi, Head of Presidential Special Projects & Creative Economy, of crafting official statements:

“All the statements you see Cabinet Secretaries release… it’s Itumbi who writes them. He crafts, and they read.”

Ruto’s Response to Allegations

These claims follow President Ruto’s own revelations about their deteriorating relationship. In a March 31 interview, Ruto said:

“You are the Deputy President. Why are you in conflict with these young men?”

Ruto criticized Gachagua for focusing on internal conflicts rather than government projects, noting:

“You never saw Gachagua on TV talking about roads, electricity or UHC even once in two years.”
