Empowering Gambian Talent Through Nationwide Initiatives
In a significant move to revitalize The Gambia’s cultural sector, Africell has launched two major competitions: the Africell Talent Hunt and the Africell Love Song Competition. These initiatives aim to discover and nurture local talent across various artistic disciplines.
Nationwide Search for Creative Talent
The unveiling ceremony at GCCI Trade Fair Grounds marked Africell’s latest commitment to youth empowerment through arts and culture. The Talent Hunt will travel across all regions of The Gambia, seeking performers in music, dance, poetry, and comedy.
“This is not just a Greater Banjul event. Africell will take the talent hunt up country, traveling across the nation in search of the next big star of Gambian Showbiz because talent knows no boundaries and neither do we,” said Waka Jagne, Africell’s Senior PR and Events Manager.
Inclusive Platform for Artistic Expression
The competition’s nationwide reach demonstrates Africell’s dedication to inclusive community engagement. The initiative provides equal opportunities for artists regardless of their location or background.
Celebrating Musical Creativity
Running parallel to the Talent Hunt, the Love Song Competition focuses on original romantic compositions by Gambian songwriters. This contest continues Africell’s longstanding support for musical talent development.
“Whether you’re a singer, dancer, choreographer, or poet, you’re welcome to participate. We want to support you in discovering your potential and encourage you to go the extra mile,” emphasized Musa Sise, Africell’s Public Relations Officer.
Building a Vibrant Creative Ecosystem
Mbye Bittaye, Assistant Manager at Africell, highlighted how these competitions align with the company’s vision for a thriving artistic community in The Gambia.
Both programs will launch in the coming weeks, with audition details and submission guidelines to be announced through Africell’s official communication channels.
