Bafoulabé Launches Malaria Vaccination Campaign for Over 19,000 Children

Mali Launches Malaria Vaccination Campaign in Bafoulabé

First R21 Vaccine Dose Administered to Child in High-Risk Region

The historic first dose of the R21 malaria vaccine was administered to a child at the Mahina Community Health Center (CSCOM) in Bafoulabé, Mali. The vaccination event was officially presided over by the local prefect, marking a significant step in Mali’s fight against malaria.

Targeting High-Prevalence Areas

Bafoulabé health district was selected as one of 19 priority circles for the vaccination campaign due to its high malaria prevalence rates. The initiative specifically targets children aged 5 to 36 months, with an estimated 19,458 children eligible for vaccination in the district.

This public health effort represents a major advancement in malaria prevention in Mali, particularly in regions most affected by the disease.
