The Vice-President, Justice Dr Jane Mayemu Ansah, SC, JA (Retired), had a busy and impactful week from 7 to 14 December 2025, marked by high-level engagements and national programmes.
On Tuesday, His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, President of the Republic of Malawi, delegated the Vice-President to preside over the International Anti-Corruption Day commemorations at the Bingu International Conference Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.
The event focused on reviewing progress made in the fight against corruption, examining existing challenges and identifying strategies to overcome them.
On Wednesday morning, Her Honour held meetings at her Capital Hill offices with senior officials from the Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services, followed by discussions with leaders from the Directorate of Road Traffic and Safety Services. The meetings provided updates on the on-going government reforms, departmental progress, challenges encountered and measures being implemented to address them. Later the same day, the Vice-President visited the Malawi Queens and Malawi Kings to encourage and boost their morale ahead of the African Netball Cup.

On Thursday morning, Dr Ansah held a farewell meeting with the outgoing Japanese Ambassador to Malawi, Mr Yoichi Oya, at the Office of the Vice-President in Lilongwe. Later that day, she met Ms Lucia Annunziata, Chief Observer of the European Union Election Observation Mission (EU-EOM), who officially presented the Mission’s Final Report on the September 2025 General Elections. The EU-EOM commended Malawi for conducting peaceful and credible elections.

That same afternoon, the Vice-President presided over the launch of the Public Sector Reforms Information Management System (PSRIMS) at BICC in Lilongwe. The system is expected to enhance efficiency, accountability and professional effectiveness within the civil service.

On Friday, Her Honour launched the Lean Season Food Insecurity Response Programme implemented by the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA) at Lufita Community Ground in Chitipa District. The following day, Saturday, December 13 2025, she conducted a similar engagement at Kaporo Primary School Ground in Karonga District.
