CNDD-FDD Strengthens Its Hold in Ngozi Ahead of Burundi’s 2025 Elections
Party Welcomes Ten New Members, Including Former CNL and UPRONA Supporters
Butanyerera (Commune Ngozi), May 15, 2025 – As Burundi prepares for crucial June 2025 elections, the ruling CNDD-FDD party has intensified its campaign efforts in Ngozi commune. During a recent tour through the hills of Bitambwe, Kigufi, Caga, Rugori, Muyogoro, and Mutumba in Busiga zone, the party celebrated the recruitment of ten new members (“Bagumybanga”) in Muyogoro hill.
Notably, six of these new members previously belonged to the opposition CNL party, while two came from UPRONA, marking a significant political shift in the region. This development strengthens CNDD-FDD’s position as Burundi’s dominant political force just weeks before the decisive elections.
Party Leadership Calls for Unity and Development
Nkurunziza Samson, CNDD-FDD’s communal secretary, along with Busiga’s zonal secretary, urged supporters to back socio-economic initiatives and maintain peace and security. The enthusiastic crowd chanted “CNDD-FDD, iyongere intsinzi!” (CNDD-FDD, amplify the victory!), energized by the “Tsinda 2025” campaign slogan.
This strategic recruitment drive demonstrates CNDD-FDD’s efforts to consolidate power ahead of the elections. For more details about Burundi’s 2025 electoral campaign, visit CAMPAGNE ÉLECTORALE 2025 AU BURUNDI.
