Nearly five years after Morocco’s sole Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) triumph, head coach Walid Regragui has declared the Atlas Lions’ unwavering determination to reclaim the trophy when the country hosts the tournament in 2025.
“We are all going to give everything we have to win the next Africa Cup,” Regragui stated during an appearance on the Spanish football talk show El Chiringuito, broadcast on Mega TV.
“Lifting this trophy at home, in front of our fans, is not just a goal for the national team—it’s a dream for the whole country,” he added.
Regragui Confident in Morocco’s Potential
The Moroccan coach, who guided the team to a historic semifinal finish at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, praised his squad’s quality and maturity, emphasizing their hunger for continental success.
“I am determined to win this AFCON. Morocco is a true footballing nation, and we deserve this title,” Regragui said. “The passion for the game here is unmatched. Not a single day goes by without fans reminding me how much they want this.”
