NIDCOM Boss Abike Dabiri-Erewa Awarded Honorary Doctorate in Saudi Arabia
Smart Island University Recognizes Humanitarian and Diaspora Contributions
Abuja, Nigeria – Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), has been honored with a prestigious doctorate degree by Smart Island University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The recognition celebrates her outstanding humanitarian services and pioneering leadership in diaspora development.
University Registrar Praises NiDCOM Leader
During the award ceremony in Saudi Arabia, Dr. Mohammed Dhaidan Al-Mutairi, Registrar of Smart Island University, commended Dabiri-Erewa for her relentless dedication and transformative impact in diaspora affairs. He emphasized that the honorary doctorate reflects her exceptional contributions to humanitarian causes and global Nigerian community development.
“The University recognizes Mrs. Dabiri-Erewa’s remarkable achievements in strengthening diaspora relations and her unwavering commitment to humanitarian initiatives,” stated Dr. Al-Mutairi.
Strengthening Nigeria-Saudi Academic Ties
The Registrar highlighted the university’s strong Nigerian connection, with nearly 90 Nigerian students currently enrolled across various academic programs. He also revealed plans to expand the institution’s presence in Nigeria, including potential campus establishment.
In her acceptance speech, Hon. Dabiri-Erewa expressed gratitude for the recognition and praised the Association of Nigerians in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their role in promoting Nigeria’s positive image abroad.
The formal conferment ceremony is scheduled to take place later this year, with specific dates to be announced.
