Orlando Pirates Confirm Monnapule Saleng’s Loan Move to Orbit College

Orlando Pirates Loan Monnapule Saleng to Orbit College for 2025/26 Season

Orlando Pirates have officially announced that winger Monnapule Saleng will join newly promoted Orbit College on loan for the 2025/26 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season. The move comes after months of speculation surrounding the 27-year-old’s future with the Buccaneers.

Saleng’s Departure Confirmed

In a statement released on Wednesday, Orlando Pirates confirmed the loan agreement with Orbit College FC, stating: “Orlandopiratesfc.com can confirm that an agreement has been reached with Orbit College FC for the loan of Monnapule Saleng. The 27-year-old will spend the 2025/26 season with the newly crowned outfit.”

Saleng, who was once a key player for Pirates, saw his role diminish during the 2024/25 PSL campaign, leading to increased speculation about his future. His last appearance for the club was on December 7, 2024, with his representatives later citing “significant issues at the core of the employer-employee relationship” in a February statement.

A Surprising Move

The transfer to Orbit College has raised eyebrows, as many expected Saleng to join a more established Betway Premiership side. Orbit, based in Limpopo, secured promotion to South Africa’s top flight after finishing second in the Motsepe Foundation Championship and winning their playoff against Cape Town City on June 25.

Despite being a newly promoted side, Orbit will now benefit from Saleng’s experience and attacking prowess as they prepare for their debut in the Premier Soccer League.

Ndlondlo Also Departs

In addition to Saleng’s loan move, Orlando Pirates also confirmed the departure of midfielder Phillip Ndlondlo, who has been released as a free agent. The club expressed gratitude for his contributions, stating: “The club extends its sincere gratitude to Phillip for his professionalism and commitment during his spell at Orlando Pirates and wishes him every success in the next chapter of his career.”

According to Transfermarkt, Ndlondlo made 65 appearances for Pirates across all competitions, registering 3 goals and 3 assists during his three-year stint.

What’s Next for Pirates?

With Saleng’s loan and Ndlondlo’s exit, Orlando Pirates are expected to reinforce their squad ahead of the new season. The club has already emphasized the importance of a strong pre-season under assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi, who recently highlighted the need for preparation ahead of their upcoming campaign.

Meanwhile, Saleng will look to reignite his career at Orbit College, where he will aim to play a pivotal role in their debut PSL season.
