May 2025 Pension Payments: Delays and Adjustments for French Retirees
In May 2025, some French retirees will experience delays in receiving their pension payments due to public holidays disrupting the usual schedule. While pension payments typically follow a regular pattern, adjustments become necessary when payment dates coincide with non-working days.
General Scheme Retirees: No Changes
Retirees affiliated with the general scheme (CNAV or MSA) traditionally receive payments on the 9th of each month. Fortunately, Friday, May 9, 2025 falls on a regular working day, meaning their pensions will be paid as scheduled without any delays.
Delays for Carsat Alsace-Moselle and Agirc-Arrco Beneficiaries
For members of Carsat Alsace-Moselle, who normally receive payments on the first of the month, the payment will be postponed to May 2 due to May 1 being Labor Day.
Similarly, Agirc-Arrco supplementary pension beneficiaries will also see their payments delayed until May 2, as these pensions are typically paid on the first working day of each month.
CNRACL Retirees: Earlier Payment
Civil servants and retirees affiliated with CNRACL will receive their pensions at the end of May. While civil servants will be paid on May 29, CNRACL beneficiaries will receive theirs slightly earlier on May 27, 2025.
Important Banking Considerations
Retirees should note that the transfer date doesn’t always match the date funds appear in their accounts. Depending on the bank, it may take 1-3 working days for the payment to be credited.
These schedule adjustments highlight the importance for retirees to regularly check the official payment calendar to better manage their finances and avoid unexpected delays.
