Porsche Unveils Limited-Edition 911 GTS Spirit 70 at Shanghai Motor Show
Porsche has taken the wraps off its exclusive 911 GTS Spirit 70 at the Shanghai International Motor Show (23 April), a special edition celebrating seven decades of the iconic 911. This limited-run model will be available in South Africa later this year.
Limited Production and Hybrid Power
Based on the 911 GTS Cabriolet, the Spirit 70 is a creation of Porsche’s Heritage Design division, with only 1,500 units slated for global production. Unlike previous special editions, this model is exclusively a soft-top and features Porsche’s new T-Hybrid mild-hybrid powertrain introduced with the facelifted 992.2 last year.

The hybrid system pairs a 3.6-litre turbocharged flat-six engine with a 1.9-kWh battery and a 40kW/150Nm electric motor, delivering a combined 398kW and 610Nm. Power is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed PDK gearbox, which also houses the electric motor.
Exclusive Exterior Styling
The Spirit 70 stands out with unique design elements, including:
- 20-inch front and 21-inch rear grey-and-gold Sport Classic alloy wheels
- Gloss black bonnet stripes merging into a 911 decal
- Gold 911 Spirit 70 badge on the engine cover
- Gold Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur badges on the front wings

Additional exterior highlights include a gloss black engine grille cover with the Porsche Heritage logo, optional gloss black roundels with the number 70 on the doors, a black window frame, and a bespoke Olive Neo body colour.
Luxurious Interior Upgrades
Inside, the Spirit 70 features a unique Pasha fabric in a black/olive neo tartan pattern, covering the seats and optionally extending to the dashboard. Other premium touches include:
- Gold 911 badge on the passenger side
- Pasha stitching and embroidery on the glovebox
- Sports Chrono package as standard

Pricing and Availability
Porsche South Africa has confirmed an undisclosed allocation of the Spirit 70, priced from R5,056,000. Each purchase includes a three-year/100,000 km maintenance plan and a matching Pasha-patterned chronograph.
