Freetown, 24 April 2025 – As Sierra Leone prepares to celebrate its 64th Independence Anniversary, the Office of the President has urged citizens nationwide to observe the occasion through prayers and religious services. This year’s theme, “Deepening National Consciousness and National Cohesion in a Troubled World,” underscores the importance of unity and collective gratitude amid global and national challenges.
Religious Observances Across the Nation
Special Muslim prayers will be held on Friday, 25th April 2025, in mosques throughout Sierra Leone. Christian communities will follow with church services on Sunday, 27th April 2025. Government officials, including Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and Heads of Departments and Agencies, have been instructed to participate in these spiritual gatherings at their local places of worship.
President Bio’s Independence Day Address
President Julius Maada Bio is set to deliver his annual Independence Day address to the nation on Sunday, 27th April, at 7:00 a.m. The speech will be broadcast throughout the day, reinforcing the country’s shared values and aspirations.
