ANC Sought Elon Musk’s Endorsement
In an interview with Sizwe Mpofu Welsh on SMWX, the 78-year-old father of the world’s richest man disclosed that Ramaphosa wanted Elon to publicly endorse the African National Congress (ANC) ahead of the 29 May 2024 elections.
“He wanted me to convince Elon to become involved in the country and give the ANC a bit of a thumbs up as the elections were coming in May,” Musk senior stated. “I looked at the letter and thought that Elon is not going to endorse the ANC.”
Musk added that after expressing his doubts to Ramaphosa’s team about Elon’s likely response, they suggested not sending the letter. However, he forwarded it to his son out of curiosity.
