SANTACO Joins as Association Partner for Smarter Mobility Africa Summit 2025

The South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) has been named an official Association Partner for the Smarter Mobility Africa (SMA) Summit 2025, scheduled from 30 September to 3 October 2025 at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg.
Strategic Role in Advancing Public Transport
This collaboration places SANTACO at the center of continental discussions on smarter mobility solutions, with a focus on improving public transport and accelerating the adoption of new energy vehicles (NEVs) across South Africa and Africa.
As the largest people-mover in South Africa, the taxi industry is crucial to the nation’s transport system. SANTACO’s participation highlights its dedication to innovation, leadership, and transformation in mobility solutions that serve millions daily.
Leadership in Mobility Discussions
SANTACO President Motlhabane Abnar Tsebe will deliver a keynote speech on 1 October 2025, representing the public transport sector and sharing the organization’s vision for a cleaner, more efficient mobility future. He will also join roundtable discussions with government officials, NEV experts, and global mobility leaders.
Secretary General Daki Qumbu will accompany President Tsebe as part of a VIP delegation, fostering collaboration between government, operators, and private stakeholders.
Shaping Policy and Innovation
The partnership empowers SANTACO to influence NEV policies and funding, ensuring the taxi industry’s needs are considered in South Africa’s shift toward sustainable transport.
President Tsebe emphasized the industry’s potential, stating, “If we formalize, professionalize, and invest in our people, this industry can finally be recognized as the backbone of South Africa’s mobility system.”
