Diaspora Members Praise Government’s Progress During Ministerial Visit

Brussels, Belgium – Tanzanian citizens residing in Belgium and Luxembourg have expressed strong support for the rapid implementation of major development projects under President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s leadership and the Sixth Phase Government.

During a special meeting at the Tanzanian Ambassador’s residence in Brussels, diaspora representatives commended the government’s commitment to national development. The gathering was attended by Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, as part of his three-day working visit to Belgium.

Key Infrastructure Projects Highlighted

Mr. Riziki Thomas, Chairperson of Tanzanians in Belgium, spoke on behalf of the diaspora community: “Despite being far from home, we closely follow the government’s efforts. The completion of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) and Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project demonstrate President Samia’s effective leadership.”

Ms. Mrisha Sarazya, Chairperson of Tanzanians in Luxembourg, added that the diaspora actively contributes to Tanzania’s development through business investments, tax payments, and job creation initiatives.

Government’s Commitment to Diaspora Engagement

Minister Kombo acknowledged the diaspora’s patriotism and revealed that the government is finalizing plans to establish a special status for overseas Tanzanians, enabling greater participation in national development. He encouraged registration on the Digital Diaspora Hub platform to improve government-diaspora communication.

The Minister’s visit also includes meetings with European Union officials and financial institutions to discuss Tanzania’s regional cooperation and development partnerships.
