Burkina Faso Prepares for Day of Traditions and Customs with Chiefs’ Meeting
Ziro Province Engages Traditional Leaders for Cultural Celebration
Sapouy, April 23, 2025 – In preparation for the upcoming Day of Traditions and Customs on May 15, High Commissioner of Ziro Province Saïba Zoromé hosted a delegation of customary chiefs from Sapouy on Wednesday.
The meeting included key provincial officials: Secretary General Adams Davou and Provincial Director of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism Abdoulaye Kagambéga. The session aimed to gather traditional leaders’ input on event planning and address potential challenges.
Strengthening Cultural Heritage
Led by Paulin Nama, the delegation praised the government initiative, noting its role in promoting social cohesion and national unity. The chiefs presented preliminary proposals and committed to submitting detailed contributions after further consultations.
The traditional leaders expressed deep appreciation to President Captain Ibrahim Traoré for establishing this cultural celebration, recognizing his commitment to Burkina Faso’s heritage values.
“We can only develop by relying on our customs and traditions,” emphasized High Commissioner Zoromé, urging province-wide activities to commemorate the day.
Cultural Heritage Month Celebration
The Day of Traditions and Customs, inaugurated in 2024, forms part of Cultural Heritage Month (April 18 – May 18, 2025). This year’s celebration marks the second edition of the nationally recognized event.
