Police have arrested two people as investigations continue into the death of a 56-year-old farmer in Tallen Fula village, in the North Bank Region.
The man’s body was discovered in the early hours of Friday, 12 December lying on a street in the village.
Officers from Kerewan Police Station, accompanied by health officials, responded to the report and transported the body to Farafenni General Hospital.
A team of investigators, including officers from the Crime Scene Investigation Unit, later returned to the village to reconstruct events leading up to the man’s death.
Police say the body has since been moved to the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul, where a post-mortem examination will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death.
Preliminary investigations suggest the victim may have been injured during an alleged altercation with one of the suspects.
He is believed to have left the scene before collapsing some distance away, where he was found hours later.
The two suspects remain in police custody as inquiries continue.
Authorities say further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
