SLFA Presidential Aide Attacked During Congress in Freetown
Violence Erupts at Sierra Leone Football Association Meeting
David Turner, Personal Assistant to the President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), has reported being physically assaulted during the SLFA Ordinary Congress at Radisson Blu Hotel in Freetown.
In an exclusive interview with Sierraloaded, Turner stated: “I was attacked by both drivers (Baba and Ahmed) of Mr. Babadi Kamara.”
Details of the Attack
The incident occurred when Kamara’s drivers, accompanied by unidentified individuals, allegedly pepper-sprayed Turner during the high-profile football gathering.
Turner believes the attack was politically motivated, stating he was specifically targeted due to his public support for incumbent SLFA President Thomas Daddy Brima.
Congress Descends Into Chaos
The violence reportedly stemmed from disputes between rival factions regarding the official delegates list, which determines voting eligibility for the SLFA presidency.
While voting has resumed under calmer conditions, security concerns forced the current SLFA President to leave the venue prematurely.
Presidential Election Underway
The heated contest features Babadi Kamara, Chairman of Bo Rangers Football Club, challenging incumbent Thomas Daddy Brima, CEO of Wilberforce Strikers.
Both candidates remain confident as the football community awaits election results expected later today.
