ASUB-E Unites Diplomats & Diaspora for Burundi’s Cultural Heritage and Healthcare Support
Paris, France – April 26, 2025 – A vibrant celebration of Burundian culture took center stage in Paris as diplomats, diaspora members, and cultural enthusiasts gathered for a special event organized by the Association for the Support of Culture and Well-Being (ASUB-E). The occasion served a dual purpose: honoring Burundi’s rich traditions through drum performances while raising funds for medical equipment in Burundian hospitals.
A Gathering of Distinction
The prestigious event attracted high-profile attendees, including:
- Kubwayo Isaïe, Burundi’s Ambassador to France
- Ngoy Kasongo Émile, Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Congo
- Diplomatic representatives from Tanzania, South Africa, and Angola
- Princess Kamatari Ester, Burundi’s Goodwill Ambassador and event patron
Princess Kamatari Ester, descendant of the royal Muganwa Kamatari Ignace lineage, added historical significance to the occasion, connecting modern Burundi with its ancient heritage.
The Rhythmic Heart of Burundi
The cultural highlight featured the internationally acclaimed Vumera Club, led by Barandaje Jean Barthélémy. Their powerful performance showcased:
- Traditional Burundian drumming
- Authentic cultural dances
- The living legacy of “Ingoma y’Uburundi” (the Drum State)
Bridging Culture and Healthcare
Georgette Minani, President of ASUB-E, emphasized the event’s significance:
“This gathering demonstrates how cultural preservation and humanitarian support can work hand-in-hand. The strong turnout from Burundian communities in France and Belgium shows our collective commitment to both our heritage and our homeland’s wellbeing.”
The event served as a powerful reminder of Burundi’s ancient “Ubungoma” cosmology and its unifying force among the global Barundi community.
