Defense Minister Clarifies Military Operations Against Armed Groups in Morrumbala
Security Forces Target Criminals, Not Naparamas
Mozambique’s Minister of National Defense, Cristóvão Chume, has assured the public that the country’s Defense and Security Forces are engaged in operations against criminal elements—not the Naparamas—in Morrumbala district.
Operation in Sabe Locality
Following the liberation of Sabe locality from armed individuals falsely identifying as Naparamas, Minister Chume emphasized that these groups are unrelated to the traditional Naparama movement. Instead, they are armed criminals terrorizing local communities.
“We are pursuing these evildoers to the last consequences,” Chume stated, reaffirming the government’s commitment to restoring security in the region.
Minister’s Statement During Diplomatic Event
The Defense Minister made these remarks on Friday while attending the accreditation ceremony for new defense attachés from Italy, Egypt, and Turkey.
