KAAF University Receives Presidential Charter, Gains Full Autonomy

Gomoa Fetteh, Ghana – KAAF University has achieved a significant milestone by receiving a presidential charter, officially recognizing it as a fully autonomous institution authorized to award certificates, diplomas, and degrees for all its accredited programs.
A Landmark Achievement in Ghanaian Education
The university, located in Gomoa Fetteh, was among 14 private universities in Ghana that received their charters on December 19, 2024, after meeting rigorous standards set by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
Mr. Frimpong Okyere, Registrar of KAAF University, announced this achievement during a media briefing to unveil the institution’s new logo. He emphasized how this elevation would further the university’s mission to prepare students for success in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Creative Arts, and Mathematics) fields.
“KAAF will embark on innovative initiatives to make its students globally competitive and well-recognized,” Okyere stated. “This unprecedented feat was earned after a very rigorous multi-stage review process.”
The Rigorous Charter Process
The path to charter status involved comprehensive evaluations of:
- Governance and management structures

- Teaching and learning methodologies
- Community engagement programs
From Humble Beginnings to Chartered Status
Founded in 2006 with the motto “Knowledge and Excellence,” KAAF University was conceptualized around the Adinkra symbol “Nea Onnim No Sua a, Ohu,” which emphasizes continuous learning. The institution took its first major step toward accreditation in 2008 and received its initial program accreditation in 2010.
The formal charter application process began in April 2022, culminating in final approval after two years of intensive assessments by GTEC.
Commitment to Future Growth
University officials reassured students and stakeholders that this new status reinforces their commitment to:
- Maintaining high educational standards
- Developing strategic partnerships
- Empowering students for global success
- Expanding academic offerings
This charter represents not just institutional recognition but also a commitment to Ghana’s educational development and the global competitiveness of its graduates.
