South Africa Debunks White Genocide Claims with Crime Statistics
Police Minister Refutes Trump’s Allegations
South Africa’s police minister has used latest crime statistics to debunk claims of a white genocide in the country. The allegations, recently amplified by US President Donald Trump, were dismissed as unfounded by Police Minister Senzo Mchunu.

Farm Murder Statistics Tell Different Story
Between January and March, official data shows five out of six people killed on farms were black, with only one white victim. The victims included two black farm owners, two employees, and one manager.
In the previous quarter (October-December 2024), only one of 12 recorded farm murders involved a white victim – a farm owner. This marks the first time South Africa has released crime statistics broken down by race.
History of Distorted Reporting
“The history of farm murders in the country has always been distorted and reported in an unbalanced way,” Mchunu stated. His comments come after a South African judge in February dismissed genocide claims as “clearly imagined” and “not real.”
Trump-Ramaphosa Meeting Controversy
The issue gained international attention when President Trump confronted South African President Cyril Ramaphosa during a White House meeting. Trump presented videos and images allegedly supporting his genocide claims, which the BBC found contained numerous falsehoods.
“We have respect for the US… but we have no respect for the genocide story. It is totally unfounded,” Mchunu emphasized.
Land Reform and Diplomatic Tensions
The minister also rejected claims of government land expropriation from white farmers. While South Africa passed a controversial land reform law this year allowing seizure without compensation in some cases, no land has been taken under the act yet.
Relations between the US and South Africa have deteriorated since Trump took office, marked by asylum grants to Afrikaners, aid cuts, and the expulsion of South Africa’s ambassador.
