SSC-Khatumo Administration Joins Somalia’s Fiscal Federalism Committee

Key Step Toward Fiscal Integration in Somalia
Laascaanood, Somalia — In a significant move for Somalia’s fiscal governance, the Federal Government has granted the SSC-Khatumo Administration membership in the Intergovernmental Fiscal Federalism (IGFF) Technical Committee. This decision requires the newly recognized administration to align its public finance systems with other Federal Member States.
Alignment with Somalia’s Fiscal Policies
Finance Minister Abdiqani Hirad welcomed the development, stating it complies with Somalia’s 2012 Intergovernmental Relations Act. “This strengthens fiscal cooperation and enhances SSC-Khatumo’s economic autonomy,” he confirmed on social media.
The Role of Fiscal Federalism in Somalia
Supported by the World Bank, fiscal federalism remains central to Somalia’s state-building efforts. The IGFF framework mandates transparent financial processes, including revenue disclosure and independent audits across all member states.
