Port Sudan: Altaghyeer
Sudan’s ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Abdul Rahman Shurfi, has firmly rejected the Port Sudan authority’s decision to cut diplomatic ties with the UAE and recall the ambassador. He argued that the military lacks the mandate to take such actions and does not represent Sudan’s legitimate government or the will of its people.
Ambassador Affirms Commitment to Legitimate Government
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Shurfi declared that he would continue serving as the official representative of Sudan’s December 2018 Revolution government. He emphasized that the Sudanese embassy and consulate in the UAE would remain operational, providing essential services to the Sudanese community and safeguarding the nation’s higher interests.
Strong Bilateral Relations Unaffected by Political Tensions
Shurfi highlighted the longstanding Sudanese-UAE relations, built on decades of mutual cooperation and understanding. He asserted, “Political maneuvers will not affect the essence of these relations.”
