The Municipal Council of Zliten has issued an urgent appeal to Libyan Prime Minister Abdel Hamid Aldabaiba and the Ministry of Defence to intervene in the ongoing blockade at the Arab Union Construction Company (AUCC) cement factory.

Local authorities report the presence of armed groups preventing operations at the facility, prompting calls for immediate government action to restore order and resume production.

In their statement, Zliten officials emphasized:

• The need for withdrawal of external forces from the factory premises
• Preference for diplomatic solutions over armed confrontation
• Protection of local economic interests and worker safety

Legal Action Underway

The municipal appeal follows legal action by Libya’s Attorney General, who has issued arrest warrants for individuals accused of disrupting operations at the strategic industrial facility.
